Hey y'all, I'm Frank, a 18 year old craftsman. I mainly work with wood but I say craftsman because I'm always trying to learn more. I've dabbled in a lot of different skills like leather working, tool making, knife making, forging, and so much more. I am very interested in welding also, I am trying to get accepted into a trade school to take a welding class at the moment. I don't have much of anything to worry about at the moment since I am under 18 so I am just trying to learn as much about anything and everything I can.
Mid march 2020 quarantine started for Covid here in Phoenix AZ. Everything closed including gyms, so everyone was trying to buy weight racks. Some people bought them and sold them for double because they knew people would pay almost anything for a rack. I saw this so I wanted to make my own so I did a bit of research and saw people made some out of wood. I got a piece of paper and designed one, bought a $20 miter saw, bought wood, and started to build. It turned out pretty well so I decided to put it up on OfferUp for $200. I ended up selling 3 or 4 of them so then my woodworking business really kicked off.
After that happened I started buying tools and more materials. I got a job at a sawmill trying to get as much experience as I possibly could. I started building more small projects. Posted a couple of projects on TikTok and Instagram. I started to get into hand tools like hand saws and hand planes. Somewhere in there I started making knives and leather working to make sheaths for those knives. I started forging a little bit. Wood burning and wood carving with a dremel. As I said I’m trying to find a school that has welding classes to gain more knowledge. I just love learning new trades.
